Divide is out now, 2 days later than the original planned release date. It could have been completed soon enough but even though it's out there's still work to be done.
I feel that Divide is a strong work with potential to appeal to many people. It is also my last album as soulofbass so I wish to give soulofbass the farewell he deserves. Out with a bang some might say. In the next month i will attempt to draw attention to my album any way i can. first starting off with youtube and then the many other sites that make music available to the public.

It's finally out there. I AM north korea. No doubt in my mind. Click HERE to find out why.
Today I finally got on my work horse and put out an album that was complete for the most part but needed additional mastering. I've called it "Internet Daze". It is an ensemble of songs that I recorded for an internet based project called One Man Band Song In A Day where I would write, record, film, edit, a song all within 24 hours. I ended up making 10 songs that way all of which are on the album. Also on the album are 3 bonus songs that relate to the project. A song I recorded for a youtube competition, a song I cowrote with famous youtube artist mary win (www.marywinmusic.com), and a b-side that I recorded just a short while before the whole project began. I am very happy with this album. It might lack the finish that CTS has because of the nature of the project being slightly rushed, but in the end I feel quite strongly about the material written here.
CTS has not been completed yet, but today I officially released the latest track (in mono) for the world to listen to. Expect an accompanying music video in the near future.

How cool would it be to be able to add more hours into a day? Well, pretty damn cool if you were the only who could use those hours. I'm guessing alot of people would wish for shorter days. As for myself I need more time!!!
Trying to get used to the new schedule, it migh tbe a while before I adapt to the busy days, the long hours of travelling (thank you PSP best 5000 baht spent EVAH!) and also trying to maintain a certain amount of artistic productivity. It just isn't happening yet.
This will be my second weekend since classes officially started. I had only one blooper so far, missed a class due to a mistake I made, I didn't properly set my alarm on accident and it didn't ring in time to get me to my all important 3 hour Japanese class.
Maybe I shouldn't have watched so much Apprentice the night before (honestly though I did set aside about 7 hours and 45 minutes for sleep).
The productivity will come back, just wait for it, Im in one of those depressive slumps.

Yesterday a man was arrested for forging a story for a prominent news magazine. The story detailed the arrest of a man who had forged a story for an article in a famous news magazine about a man who had been arrested for fraud in a case that led to a fake advertisement being displayed prominently at a sky train station in Bangkok, Thailand. According to the fake story a local artist named soulofbass tricked the BTS into advertizing his website by posing as a corporation that had already struck an advertising deal with the public transportation system.

When I was in the 10th grade I wrote a story about emotions and the effects of positive emotions. I wrote that sometimes it's the good times that cause us the most pain because the inability to recapture great feelings caused more sorrow than standard sorrow causing events.

I am convinced that some people experience more emotion, or perhaps rather stronger emotional responses, than others. Whether this is a curse or a blessing I really do not know.

I write this as the rain begins to fall. Reminds of the the fear i had that it would rain on my bangkok adventure. It did not rain then but something much worse happened, I ended up alone on an adventure that truly was meant to be shared.
Today I am getting over a little sickness I had the past couple days. I coughed up this nasty flem... Anyway.
Feeling down, going to listen to some mellon collie and the infinite sadness.
This is how my summer will end.

Gosh darn this bangkok adventure did not happen! And in my last post i was just saying that i follow through on my plans. Well... i really hope to do this just the pieces so far haven fallen into place. I'm hoping to have my bangkok adventure come this saturday. I'm planning even more activities for it as i write :D. If anyone out there is interested in going on a crazy budget priced all day adventure in bangkok this coming saturday that will include song writing, video making, street performing, and going random places you've never been to before on a whim (by bus), then you HAVE to contact me.
Today finished up recording for clone, which is the 5 track and 3rd official song for the CTS project. This one includes a new fantastic drummer. Can't wait to unveil the music video on the world.

I think i might be a little manic depressive. How does one learn to cope with the extreme desires and ambitions one feels one moment and then the feeling of depression, uselessness, and letdown one feels the next.
On the other hand, I have a pretty good attention span and do more often than not carry through with my plans. My latest plan, weather permitting, is to take a tour of bangkok. It will be a self guided tour that includes a few friends and my guitar. This tour will start at the crack of dawn and end after midnight. The city, Bangkok, will become my muse and stage for a day. I think it's going to be epic... now if only i could find someone to lend me their camera (preferably HD) :D
btw im planning to do this on sunday, and might replace my weekly song in a day video.

May 10th 2009

A short while ago I decided that I wanted to update this blog at least once every 3 days... but I totally forgot about it! Needless to say my clowning about on the internet hasn't met my initial demand... What I can say is that I am addicted to my art, creating art for art's sake. This year should see 2 new soulofbass albums. One that revolves around my youtube world including the songs from my one man band song in a day series and the other being CTS. Both these projects present a departure from my norm, working with other people accross the globe making music.
Time is of the essence. I've been afforded my time to work on my projects of late because I haven't had any classes, but the next semester begins officially in June, and come then I won't have as much time anymore to offer to my art. This summer I was planning to go full force with CTS the global online band, but ended up building my youtube audience, and for what? To become a clown? I hope not.
Cheers!

May 3rd 2009

I wish evade it. But there is no way. Tomorrow it will certain, I will have lived for 25 years upon this planet. There is a planet I would like to visit called Mars, anyone know where I can buy tickets?
Today I was listening to recently uploaded original tunes on youtube like I sometimes do. Some songs I like, some I don't but I always try to find something good and point it out to the artist. Then I thought, hey! It would really be fun to jam along with a song while watching it. Then after I did that successfully I thought hey! lets make a video (being the impatient soul that i am i did not bother getting permission). So today I uploaded my first jamming session video which I did with MicaGolde's "His Song". Glad to say she seemed to be quite surprised (in a good way). I think I'll try this again :) Watch out youtubes, soulofbass is here to JAM!

May 1st 2009

I ran into a very interesting person's youtube page today thanks to kaiserks sending me a video. it is www.youtube.com/katotmottgogo
he has reminded me of my goals when i first started out trying to give myself and my art more exposure via the internet. i have and continue to create content but one my goals includes finding an audience for my art. doing this is not as easy as it sounds and involves a lot of work and monetary investment. unfortunately i have very little of the latter, but I've decided to put more work into my networking, updating this site, and continuing to provide content on my youtube page. theres a lot of work ahead, but i hope to take you along each step of the way.

welcome to soulofbass, the place for all music and musicians that's truly non conventional!
